Matthew Dillinger Headshot

I’m originally from the Hickory area, graduated from Davidson College and USC Law, and returned to Davidson in 2015. I’ve worked in large and small law firms and currently run my own practice in downtown Davidson. In January 2017, I was appointed to the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, have been Chair of those boards since mid-2018, and have served on various committees and assisted with other town planning efforts (e.g., Mobility Plan Stakeholder and Subcommittee; Growth Management Committee; Watershed Ordinance). I also currently serve as an Elder at Davidson College Presbyterian Church. My wife and I live with our two sons (5 and almost 2) in River Run.

Our town has benefited from years of deliberate, thoughtful planning, leadership, and informed citizen engagement to help craft where we are today and our path ahead. We have citizen-driven plans that we’ve adopted and plans that are still being formulated. I hope to help shepherd the implementation of those community plans through objective, disciplined, and studied leadership and direction, including key parts of the Mobility Plan and Comprehensive Plan. Doing so gives life to those plans and yields improved infrastructure, more desirable and sustainable development, expanded affordable housing, and enhanced equity while realizing the efforts of so many and respecting where constraints on authority exist.
